Sud Italia’s concept was created after Shanon Scott and his wife Wende traveled to the southern region of Italy in 2014. Each year they have visited different areas of the country but were so impressed with the coastal seafood and the traditional culture of southern Italian cuisine they wanted to share it with their fellow Houstonians.
Owner Shanon Scott’s 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry at high end Italian eateries enabled him to create a vision that is unique to Houston’s dining scene. The menu true to the regions includes dishes and ingredients from the five main areas of southern Italy as well as select southern Italian vineyards. Olive oil, tomatoes, eggplant, capers, mushrooms, olives, fresh hand-pulled burrata, fresh herbs from our own garden, seasonal vegetables and fresh seafood are staples of the menu.
Located in the tony neighborhood of Rice Village, this charming and cozy restaurant is open six days a week including weekday lunch and dinner and also a Saturday brunch. The outdoor covered patio is a huge favorite year-round for people watching and dining al fresco.
